Why Perjury and Not Treason?

Yes, jury selection has started on the trial of Scooter Libby, who helped out a CIA operative who specialized in tracking the illicit trade of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Like, isn't that treason to do what Scooter did?

Oh, well, alas, he's being charged with perjury, not treason. Will he be convicted before Bush pardons him? We'll just have to wait and see.
