Judith Miller Lives Up to Being the Drama Queen

January 31, 2007

Well, the long-awaited appearance of Judith Miller at the Scooter Libby trial lived up to the expectations of a drama queen entering stage right.

You remember that Miller spent some time in jail trying to protect Scooter by using the excuse of journalistic privilege. But it wasn't really journalistic privilege that was at stake; it was the fact that she had information corroborating Libby's perjury.

We don't know whether Miller and Libby really did the "Aspen Cluster" that Scooter wrote to Miller about in a titillating note attempting to nudge her toward protecting him, but she finally was compelled by fear of a perjury charge against herself to fess up to the truth.

So, Miller pretty much repeated what we had already heard, adding to the growing list of CIA and White House witnesses who have backed up the prosecution charge that Libby has perjured himself.

We can't wait for Rove and Cheney to take the stand. Expect a lot of pleading the Fifth or "I can't recall that" responses, if they do appear.

In any case, for the next few days, we encourage you to visit our parent site, BuzzFlash.com. There is so much news coming out of the Libby case that we have it all posted there, along with occasional analysis and commentary.
