Fred Thompson wants to be president. As this article points out, he will have to overcome his connection to I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. In 2006 he served on the advisory board of the legal defense fund for Libby, convicted of lying to federal investigators during their investigation of the Valerie Plame affair.
