Judge won't delay Libby prison term

June 14, 2007

Federal judge Reggie Walton says he won't delay Scooter Libby's a 2 1/2-year prison sentence in the CIA leak case.

Libby will still have 6-8 weeks before having to report. The destination and timeframe will be left up to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

From the AP article, "Walton never appeared to waver from his opinion that a delay was unwarranted. After 12 prominent law professors filed documents supporting Libby's request, the judge waved it off as 'not something I would expect from a first-year in law school.' "

Walton also said he received several "angry, harassing, mean-spirited" letters and phone calls following his sentencing but said they wouldn't factor into his decision.
